Does anyone know if there is an online furniture research database for the Dept of State collection similar to Winterthur? Thanks
Thanks Mark. I've taken the official tour and I own the book. I was hoping for more detailed info and pictures. The pieces in the collection are truly the best of the best. The official tour rushes you through very fast and your not allowed in several rooms. If you can arrange a SAPFM tour, count me in. 3-4 pieces I would love to reproduce. Thanks.Bob,
I've lived in the DC area for over 30 years now and keep thinking I should arrange for a tour of the Diplomatic Rooms. Really have no excuse for not having done so before now.
Of course the standard reference is the 1991 book "Treasures of State: Fine and Decorative Arts in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the U.S. Department of State." No longer in print, but not very expensive on the used market (looks like ~$30 at this writing).
They do have an online reference, but don't have much in way of photos (just a standard front-facing photo): https://www.diplomaticrooms.state.gov/explore-the-collection/
