Winner! (Intermediate Category)
1795-1810 Boston Dimensions: 30 7/8 X 20 X 15 3/4A pair of Seymour Ladies Work Tables (in the style of). I omitted the leg casters and silk pouch which were common to these types of tables, these features did not appeal to me. The plans were purchased from Phil Lowe several years ago. A picture of the table is in the book American Furniture from the Kaufman Collection by Michael Flanigan. Page 198.
The tables are all of mahogany construction with extensive use of veneers, banding and stringing (over 120 feet of banding and stringing). Of particular interest is the use of banding inlaid into the legs vs the traditional reeding. All veneers were applied via hammer veneering technique. All banding was purchased, I made the stringing ( maple and dyed black pearwood ). Shellac was applied via French polishing method.
Primary Woods: Mahogany and Ceylon SatinwoodVeneers: Anigre Crotch, Amboyna Burl, Ceylon Satinwood, Curly Mahogany, and Beefwood ( veneer made from solid piece of Beefwood). Veneers purchase from Certainlywood except for the currly mahogany and Beefwood (Rare Woods Inc).
Banding purchased from Inlay Product World and E.L. Henson inlay and design.
