Makers Challenge
I'm not a purest and often incorporate multiple styles that I enjoy in my woodworking, often combining new and old techniques to achieve the best results in a project. This project has been a labor of love as I combined religious symbols deeply important to me, along with my passion for woodworking. Research for the project came from studying many examples of amazing museum pieces online, then hand drawing the project on graph paper to work out proportions and details of construction. The primary wood is Curly Cherry from Irion Lumber, secondary wood of Poplar, Hardware from Horton Brasses, and the finish is Ora Verde Acrilico. All elements were hand carved by me, the quarter columns are carved as well. Overall, I'm pleased with how this piece turned out and now I'm looking for my next inspiration.
