Made from hand selected highly figured Walnut with deep contrasting chatoyance, this Chest on Table includes finely book matched grain on the Chest with both pieces finished with a painstakingly hand rubbed oil finish. The book matched grain runs consistently from the front through the top of the Chest and up the sides. The interior enjoys more highly figured Walnut continuing the book matched grain pattern feature. The case and the table are adorned with Ebony edging and inlays.
The case is purposefully built to house a One-of-a-Kind Cabot Guns 1911 with a Freedom Fit, allowing the beauty of the Cabot Guns masterpiece to be seen for all its glory. Exquisite polished stainless steel fine box hardware compliment the weapon and the case. Constructed by Furniture and Box Maker Steven Parker of SAP Fine Furniture and Box Maker using traditional time-honored joinery and finishing techniques.
The tapered legs could define this as a Mid-Century Modern piece, however because of It’s a well-balanced leg design some would consider it a George Hepplewhite design from the 1700s to 1810, as seen in the Hepplewhite furniture collection. The Amish also saw value in this style of leg because of the sturdiness combined with simple lines equating to form and function.
