Queen Anne Tea Table

This pie crust tea table is my own design. I wanted to incorporate different design elements from the mid 18th to the early 19th centuries. Being from the South, I wanted the table to reflect the southern style which keeps embellishments to a minimum. The pedestal was turned on a spring pole lathe. The fluting was done with a fluting box and a cutter made from an old file. The legs are attached with tapered dovetails which makes fitting much easier. Since the table was constructed as part of a colonial woodworking demonstration, hand tools were used almost exclusively. The pie crust edge is carved - not applied. After making several of these Queen Anne tables I’ve settled on tops around 25 inches, which allows the table to remain relatively light and graceful.
